Comment:

 There is still work to be done here in Pidgin, although the issue crops up
 due to buggy server setups.

 "fixing" this quirk in libpurple is going to require string changes (to
 tell the user why we're erroring the connection when the server "requires"
 SSL), so re-targeting.
