 We could not wait for someone else to fix this so we made changes against
 the 5.2.8 sources.  One file was modified (util.c) that essentially
 overrides the proxy connection used for the initial authentication to
 pickup the system defaults (e.g., Win32's LAN Settings).


 I'm attaching the modified util.c for review and perhaps inclusion in the
 next release of purple (see comments on lines 557).
