 If you are using the GTK that came with Pidgin, then that's about it I'd
 guess.  Best thing you can do is use the latest Pidgin and hope that
 whatever GTK is bundled with it fixes this issue for you.

 As this is not a Pidgin issue, can this ticket now be closed off?
