 I can reproduce this on pidgin 2.5.5 (ubuntu 9.04 x86).  With strace, it
 seems that these wakeups are coming from gettimeofday.  Please let me know
 if I can provide you all with some debugging information to get this
 resolved, as I have the following output from powertop, which seems
 unacceptable:
