 Hi,

 I have got exactly the same problem.
 My card audio is : 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9
 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)

 I test with others audio applications or no and i have this problem in all
 cases.
 I test without activate plugins but the problem is still here.
 With Alsa activate in Pidgin the sound stop working. Actually it is in
 "auto"

 The sound is Ok with others audio applications even if Pidgin is launched.
