 I believe it is the same issue. I'm surprised I didn't manage to find that
 one when I searched before creating this issue. The person there solved it
 by changing something in his or her prefs.xml. The issue is that pidgin is
 not doing that itself, for some reason. That's a workaround, but I think
 the real issue should remain open (whichever bug report it is doesn't
 matter to me).
