 darkrain42,
 I think it boils down to the fact that write_to_parent (dnsquery.c) only
 writes a message on stderr if it encounters an error but does not notify
 the caller about the error so appropriate action can be taken, nor does it
 attempt to recover (retry the write call).

 I believe one can find multiple scenarios where something may fail in a
 weird way because of this.
