 I'm having the same problem. 'Google Talk' (Google talk software I
 downloaded from Google website) connects with no problems but I can't
 connect to my google talk account when using pidgin, this leads me to the
 conclusion that something is wrong with pidgin, and not a firewall or
 network problem.
