 Earlier, I had problem sign in to Yahoo using pidgin 2.5.6 on xp prof.
 Then when I go to Yahoo Mail, it prompted me to change my password, saying
 something like

    We've discovered that your Yahoo! password is compromised.

    A third party is using your Yahoo! password to spam your
    Yahoo! Messenger contact list.  A simple password change will
    help both protect your account and stop this spam

    ...

 Sure enough, after I change my password, I was able to login to yahoo
 through pidgin.
