Comment:

 You have the AIM account added to pidgin, it is enabled and connected, and
 you don't see any buddies on the buddy list? You also do not see them if
 you Show->Offline Buddies? Do they appear in the blist.xml file if you
 inspect it manually?

 If they do not appear in the buddy list and do not appear in blist.xml
 then the server isn't sending us any buddies when you log in (and not
 sending us the "we temporarily couldn't find your buddy list, sorry"
 message it occasionally sends us when that happens).

 If you open the Help->Debug Window before enabling your AIM account do you
 see anything about your buddy list/buddies when you log in?
