Comment:

 I've since upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 with kernel 2.6.27-11-generic and my
 Pidgin is version 2.5.2. I have not had any problems recently with Pidgin
 reporting it is connected while it is not.

 If this issue is still happening for you, better to open a new ticket with
 your information, configuration, logs, etc.
