 Yes, it reverted back to the value I could not find in status.xml.
 The value it is reverting to does not appear in accounts.xml.
 After deleting the entire pref tag, when I started pidgin back up and
 checked the value for the idleaway pref, a new value is present. I set in
 the gui offline, closed pidgin, started pidgin back up, and checked the
 gui setting, and it has remained persistent. Thank you very much for your
 help, I really appreciate it!

 setting the status from pending to resolve as worksforme.
 I only see this affecting other people if this bug has something to do
 with how pidgin is upgraded. And, then it might be an installer/package
 issue.
