 I found an old plugin called "pidgin-convcharcount" referenced in the wiki
 but it doesn't appear to have been updated since 2007 and seems to be made
 for Pidgin 2.4.1. I couldn't try it in any case since there aren't current
 packages available for my os. I'm running Fedora 11 and there's no pidgin-
 convcharcount available from any of the Fedora repositories. The author
 has an RPM available but it's for Fedora 8, so I'd be afraid to try it on
 F11+Pidgin 2.5.6.
