 I've downloaded the pidgin.repo file for updating pidgin 2.5.4 to 2.5.6
 but this does not work.

 I don't know what is required for a repository, but I'm guessing the
 timestamps on these two files indicates a problem:

 filelists.xml.gz        2009-Mar-11 15:44:03

 pidgin-2.5.6-0.fc6.i386.rpm     2009-May-20 09:35:29

 (both from http://rpm.pidgin.im/fedora/6/i386/)

 I think the details of the 2.5.6 software needs to be added to the
 http://rpm.pidgin.im/fedora/6/i386/repodata/ directory.

 My workaround was to download all required rpms manually and install on
 the command line.
