 The (binary) patch worked by downgrading the version from 15 to 12.
 The version 12 had the August limitation, the 16 (!) introduced in pidgin
 2.5.7 is going to work for a much longer time I think. The 15 version is
 no longer working on many Yahoo servers.

 Hope this clears it up. Use the latest version of pidgin (2.5.7) !
