New description:

 I reused the rpm spec file from 2.5.6, downloaded the latest 2.5.7 source
 codes, and changed the version number in spec file.

 The compiling progress breaks at the yahoo module as such:

 yahoo.c: In function `yahoo_auth16_stage2':
 yahoo.c:1472: error: implicit declaration of function `g_strv_length'

 Are there any problems with the source file? This is my configure options:

 ./configure --enable-gnutls=yes --enable-nss=yes --disable-tcl --disable-
 tk --disable-startup-notification --disable-schemas-install --with-
 extraversion=0.el4 --disable-perl --disable-dbus --disable-gstreamer
 --disable-avahi --disable-meanwhile

Comment:

 This is a known issue due to our rushed release and only one developer who
 actively cares about old GTK+/GLib versions. It has already been fixed
 for Pidgin 2.6.0. In the meantime, you can check to see if the official
 repositories have updated yet. The !RedHat packager mentioned building
 with a small patch that fixes the issue.
