Comment:

 You didn't copy and paste the commands properly. Your sources line is
 missing a distro name. It should look like this (where DISTRO would be
 replaced by hardy, intrepid, or jaunty, depending on which version you're
 running):

 deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu DISTRO main

 It's really not necessary to post a screenshot of a directory listing of
 one file or a screenshot of the text you just pasted.

 If you still can't figure this out, I'd suggest you check the Pidgin
 Ubuntu download page again in a week or two. Hopefully by then I'll have a
 simplified installation process that doesn't involve copying-and-pasting
 commands.
