 When I start Pidgin, The protocol list doesn't show up.

 I have Ubuntu system with pidgin 2.5.2 for quite sometime and it has been
 working wonderfully. I also had compiled version from source code for
 finch and that works great as well.

 Recently bcoz of yahoo protocol changes, yahoo stopped working. So I
 decided to upgrade to 2.5.7.

 I removed pidgin,libpurple,libpurple-bin from ubuntu package manager.

 Then I downloaded 2.5.7 version source code and ran "./configure
 --disable-nm && make && sudo make install"

 When I start the pidgin protocols don't show up. Also it looks like SSL
 init failed (not sure if it is related or not).

 This looks similar to ticket 9448 but It's not. Please Help!!!!!!
