Comment:

 I think I figured out what the issue is.  I had changed my server name in
 the old version to cn.scs.msg.yahoo.com to get around the Yahoo connection
 issue.

 By changing accounts.xml, located in C:\Documents and Settings\My
 Userid\Application Data\.purple, to scs.msg.yahoo.com the problem appears
 to have gone away.
