Comment:

 Copy and paste in the linux world requires that the pasting
 application/window remain in existance until after the paste completes or
 that a clipboard managing application be running. So the fact that you
 cannot paste log window contents after closing the log window is not
 particularly surprising.

 Can you explain the rest of your issue more clearly?
