I use the skype plug in to connect also to skype users. And i have now a
contact
having ".." (2 dots) at the end of his user name. It seems to as it is not
possible under windows to create such a directory. So it seems that it is
not
possible for Pidgin to store the conversation log to a sub directory with
the
user name for that reason. At least this is how i would interpret the log
file.
Pidgin 2.5.6 (portable version) + Skype plugin
Here is the log entry i got when trieing to send him a message.
(13:36:46) log: Could not create log file
..\..\..\30_App......in\.purple\logs\skype\my_skype_name\skype_buddy..\2009-06-26.133641+0200CET.html
The chat window shows me "(13:36:46) Logging of this conversation
failed.".
And wenn i try to execute the following command in the copmmand shell to
write
to this folder ... it also does not work. I also tried a couple of other
things
as you can see in the command output. :-)
D:\logs>dir
18.05.2009 11:10 <DIR> .
18.05.2009 11:10 <DIR> ..
D:\logs>mkdir "test.."
D:\logs>dir
18.05.2009 11:10 <DIR> .
18.05.2009 11:10 <DIR> ..
26.06.2009 13:51 <DIR> test
D:\logs>cd "test.."
D:\logs\test>cd ..
D:\logs>echo "text" >test..\save.txt
Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden.
(Can not find the spezified path)
D:\logs>echo "text" >"test..\save.txt"
Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden.
(Can not find the spezified path)
As it seems that windows can not relay handle this type of directory
names,
it is not possible to write to the log.
I know that this seems to be a windows bug. But the question is, are you
trying
to provide a solution for it? As i do not think that this bug will be
fixed very
soon from Microsoft. :-(
This problem accoutered on Windows XP SP2 as well as on Windows XP SP3.
But it was not reproduce able on Windows Vista (64bit) SP1.
If you need any additional information or help on testing or trying
anything
related this issue, please feel free to tell me. Would be a pleasure to
help.
