 I am looking into this, from various captures, I have come to conclusion
 that your socks proxy doesn't allow SSL connections, hence pidgin is
 unable to connect.[[BR]]
 Official client seems to be using auth mechanism similar (same ??) to the
 older one. (need to further check a few things).

 You can notice that even official client fails to setup a SSL connection
 for its yahoo-voice after it has login with some other mechanism.[[BR]]

 We might eventually get this thing, but it takes time, have
 patience.[[BR]]
