New description:

 Been running 2.4.2 for a long time.

 Finally got around to upgrading to 2.5.3 a while back.

 Today upgraded to 2.5.4 to solve "hang on exit" issue.

 While "hang on exit" issue seems resolved, Sametime connect no longer
 works. Debug log shows Sametime server resolves correctly, but then fails
 with "Timeout".

 Downgraded to 2.4.2 and now everything is back to normal.

 No plugins used.

 After having re-upgraded to first 2.5.4 and subsequently 2.5.4 Debug, I am
 no longer able to reproduce the issue.

 Incidentally, also 2.5.5 seems to function without issue.

 I would hereby like to ensure everybody, that I was neither drunk nor
 stoned,- now,- or earlier today when I raised this ticket.

 I apologize for yanking the alarm bell string.
