 Ok I found the icons and created a Launchpad bug, let's see what they have
 to say about it.

 But I believe the problem might still be Pidgin because the scalable icons
 are in subfolders, like this:

 22x22/scalable/pidgin.svg
 48x48/scalable/pidgin.svg

 If I understand the icon theme specification
 (http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-
 latest.html) correctly, the scalable icon should rather be in one folder
 named scalable at the same level as the 22x22 etc directories.
