 There is a new protocol extension specifying a way for clients to include
 the "idle time" info in the presense. Currently what is shown in "Get
 Info" is based on "polling" information from that user, that's a reason
 why it isn't automatically reflected in the buddy list.

 I have been working on supporting this new extension (but the buddies must
 also use a client that supports it for them to appear idle).
