 Recently, I decided to add aliases for almost all of my contacts.
 I have a few pounces set up, specificly to open a window when they log on.
 Whenever this user logs on, a window pops up and I see
 'username is now known as alias'

 It is a recurring pounce, and I see that message everytime they log on.

 I'm running Gentoo Linux with Awesome WM, if this info is relevant.
 Pidgin is running version 2.5.2.
