 Many Unix users choose a window manager or desktop environment which has
 no system tray (see ion, dwm, awesome, xmonad and many more).  Pidgin's
 behavior of disappearing but continuing to run when its window is closed
 is extremely unfriendly to these users.

 Steps to reproduce:
  1. Use an environment that does not provide a system tray
  2. Start Pidgin
  3. Close the window via your window manager
  4. Observe that the Buddy List is no longer visible and there is no way
 to recover it without a system tray.

 I don't recall having this problem with previous versions of Pidgin, so it
 is probably new to 2.5.5 or another recent release.

 I propose that when "Show system tray icon" is set to "Never", the window
 close action should be to exit Pidgin.
