 I upgraded to 2.5.5 and Pidgin won't start.  The application starts, it
 loads my avatar icon, and appears to be attempting to connect... but never
 connects to any service (AOL/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo/XAMPP or IRC).

 The application just shows the "Connecting" spinner and essentially
 freezes, requiring a CTRL+ALT+DEL to shutdown.
