 I am the original bug reporter, just made an account.

 The above crash is 100% reproducible at the moment for 64-bit Pidgin on
 x86_64, kernel 2.6.29, using Gnome 2.26 (MDV 2009.1 RC1 64-bit, following
 cooker).

 More rare is crashing overnight, and 100% cpu usage followed by crash
 after 2 hours, but I don't know how to trigger either on demand.

 I am not able to tickle the above bug in KDE, though it still crashed
 overnight yesterday.

 Just to get this out of the way, I've trying under-clocking the computer,
 and I also did "rpm -Va" to verify all library/binary MD5sums.  Pidgin
 still crashes.  I even rebuilt Pidgin 2.5.5 from source manually.

 I was not able to tickle the same reproducible bug with 32-bit Pidgin in
 Gnome, but I have not let the 32-bit version run overnight.

 It's very frustrating to lose unread messages overnight, so I don't let
 the client run at night any longer.
