 A file with the name ".recently-used.xbel" is created in
 C:\Users\myusername (using Vista) everytime I receive a file via a file
 transfer in Pidgin. (It could also be that the file is created when Pidgin
 is closed, after a file transfer.)

 If it is useless, it should not be created. In case it serves a purpose,
 shouldn't it be created somewhere else?

 By the way, the content of the file is this:

 <xbel version="1.0"
       xmlns:bookmark="http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/desktop-
 bookmarks"
       xmlns:mime="http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/shared-mime-info"

 That's all. Obviously not an important bug, but a bit annoying.

 I'd like to put a little off-topic comment here: I'd have preferred to
 submit a bug report without registering.
