 The [http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-plugins/ pidgin plugins] repository
 contains a jabber-settings plugin which allows for notifications as to
 whether an existing conversation is on- or off-the-record.

 And yes, I agree that if Google Talk allows either side of the
 conversation to decree that the other side not log anything (without an
 agreement to that fact) that that is a problem in the implementation.
