 A number of tickets have been filed by one of the qutecom developers
 related to pidgin not cleaning up well/correctly on purple_core_quit and
 thus causing problems on subsequent purple_core_init calls. I haven't
 looked at the code here but if these "issues" will impact that usage (a
 usage of libpurple we don't use ourselves) then we ought to look at fixing
 them.
