Comment:

 Do you have pidgin set up to show an icon in the tray/notification area at
 all times? Tools->Preferences -> Interface->Show system trac icon =
 "Always"? Because if not then pidgin is doing exactly what it should be
 doing, which is quitting.

 Please do not set milestones yourself.
