Comment:

 1) The type ahead find pidgin uses in the buddy list is limited to what
 GTK+ supports, and it only supports searching for visible rows (so if you
 have offline buddies shown you should be able to find them, but will not
 be able to find them if you don't).

 2) Pidgin supports sending offline MSN messages, but for protocols where
 offline messages are not supported the included Offline Message Emulation
 plugin offers exactly the feature you mention.

 3) This is a duplicate of #2065.
