 I think it should be done in function purple_markup_html_to_xhtml() - it's
 supposed to output XHTML, XHTML is XML and is not allowed to contain XML-
 illegal chars.


 BTW: problem also affects Adium: http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/11972
