 seg fault occurs immediately after close of sound file
    /usr/share/sounds/purple/send.wav
 sound does not play on sending the line
    file itself can be played by another player
 segfault appears to be triggered by bad call to:
 __pthread_mutex_lock

 using Linux kernel 2.6.22.6 -
 pidgen 2.5.5 built from source -
 own custom linux distro built from source
