Comment:

 Right-click someone in the buddy list and Add Buddy Pounce, you can also
 drag a buddy list entry over the Add Pounce window and drop it to use the
 correct buddy and account.

 I don't know of any built-in way to change your status based on the status
 of one of your buddies, but a plugin could be written to do that.
