Comment:

 Closed as duplicate of #8830.[[BR]]Removing the gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
 package should work (assuming removing that doesn't require removing large
 parts of your system as well) around the problem you are encountering. It
 is an interaction bug with one of the gstreamer plugins and a library the
 plugin and pidgin both use.
