 The crashes in #8136 and in #8830 are not actually connected to the XMPP-
 using accounts in pidgin, they are connected to other linked-in libraries
 using libxml2 and setting things up so that errors break the world. As
 such, until and unless you trigger one of the failing errors you will not
 see the problem, it is possible that your Google Talk account simply does
 not trigger the issue.

 You can try removing the -bad gstreamer plugins and seeing if that
 prevents the crashes for now (beware that package may be a dependency of
 many other things and as such isn't easily or usefully removed/removable).
