Comment:

 pidgin is waiting for NetworkManager to inform us that you have a network
 connection, if you do in fact have one then you either need to fix NM to
 report it correctly or disable NM so pidgin doesn't wait for it.
 Alternatively, manually changing your status (or disabling and re-enabling
 you account(s)) should cause pidgin to ignore NM and try to connect
 anyway.
