 "Undo" unless it is done immediately (and the normal undo mechanism
 catches the replacement plugins changes, in which case ctrl-z will work,
 and in fact ctrl-z does work) is not always going to be possible, since
 arbitrarily many things can be set up to be replaced to the same result
 which means going backwards isn't going to be possible.
