New description:
1. Start MSN file transfer / "offer to send file"
2. Inadvertently delete the file before the transfer is accepted by the
recipient.
3. Dead pidgin, completely dies. I get a standard error in the
~/.xsession-errors file. I cannot verify it for 100% certain, but I think
this happens when the transfer is accepted by the other side, and not
before, just based on the amount of time it took to crash after I deleted
the file.
When I tried the backtrace I got a popup window with nothing in it that
froze before the crash, and in my log of recent conversation text (upon
restart) I have:
(23:49:39) Error reading /tmp/test.txt: No such file or directory.
The contact I tested the bug with said, when asked about the timing of my
apparent disconnection during this bug:
"there was a delay of about 10-20 secs after i accepted with nothing
happening then you appeared to d/c"
Either way, Pidgin shouldn't die completely on such an issue. I guess the
error handling is starting up, but somehow not functioning correctly in
this eventuality, and crashing out.
Pidgin comes from the Fedora Core RPM "2.5.5-1.fc10".
Backtrace follows as attachment (html rendering kills it)...
