 I tried out Jimm 0.6.0, QiP Infium and Empathy 2.28.1.1.

 Yep I used short strings of 3..10 characters. I've just tried sending some
 larger IMs (20..100 chars and even more) and they were rejected in the
 same way. Each time the length of an incoming IM shown in the log fits its
 real value.
