 My son's MSN account is doing much the same thing in Pidgin 2.6.3, but WLM
 is working just fine.

 What I can't figure out is that he had a buddy with a mangled address in
 WLM, which he deleted. This same mangled address still shows up in
 Pidgin's debug log as not known about by the server, even after I close
 WLM after deleting it and then edit the blist.xml file to remove all
 entries containing the broken address. Opening WLM again shows that this
 contact is no longer displayed.

 Not sure if this could be relevant.

 I cannot work out what MSN have done since yesterday to break this.
