 pidgin causes the entire system to stall and become non-responsive

 steps to reproduce.
 1. talk to some one who is on msn via ebuddy.
 2. wait till they go offline.
 3. try to message them a few times.
 4. ????
 5. profit! (system is now ..... STALLED .... i had to reboot my 2.6.31.6
 linux system :( ).
