 This problem appeared recently without migrating to a newer version of
 Pidgin, so possibly it's an issue with the MSN servers or a protocol
 change. Whenever I set a display name for my account (aka friendly name),
 the change is applied. I have verified this via another client having my
 primary MSN account as a contact. But after logging out and logging in
 again, the display name is lost and it falls back to the default (my login
 e-mail address).

 The issue is present with the latest 2.6.3 in Linux as well as 2.5 in
 Windows. In addition, other users in my contact list known to use
 libpurple-based clients (like Adium) are affected by the same problem.
