 I know some people don't like them, but gone notifications are really very
 useful, especially in hybrid environments incorporating bots.  (XMPP was
 designed with the potential for programmatic interaction in mind.)  I'm
 wondering if the removal of this feature is by design, if it is a bug that
 will be fixed, or if it will come back as an option.  I notice that 2.6.x
 still *displays* "gone" notification; it just doesn't send it now.
