 We use a persistent, auto-joined chatroom to send (via sendxmpp) urgent
 system alerts to a distributed team of engineers.

 Using the Message Notification plugin it was possible to have a closed
 chat window raised and presented when a message was sent to the room.

 This was excellent as it meant everyone on the team was alerted
 immediately and clearly to urgent issues and everyone could communicate
 instantly.

 This behaviour is present in 2.5.8 but has been removed from 2.6.1.  It
 still exhibits the same behaviour for IM messages but now only changes the
 chatroom name to bold type in the roster.

 and I also found someone asking where this functionality had gone in
 August 09 but with no reply so I thought I would report it here.
