 I have been noticing for the past week or so (haven't checked before) that
 version 2.5.5 is opening hundreds of threads as well.  I've been running
 it for about 3 hours and haven't had a single incoming or outgoing message
 and it is running at 527 threads.  I closed it this morning at over 900
 threads (I had left it on all night).

 I've noticed that when I force-close it (it takes to long to close
 manually) that the rest of my running software becomes MUCH more
 responsive, even though the memory usage is generally under 100MB (I have
 2 gig).
