 JasonSpradlin82: The threads not being closed appears to be caused by a
 bad interaction with ZoneAlarm (and possibly other software firewalls).

 db: An increase of 6 Mb in a day isn't unreasonable - it might not even be
 leaking (it could be data in memory that is accessible).
